The Volkswagen Touareg was originally named Bob, however the Germans found it too difficult to pronounce.

Touareg is a compromise between "Bob" which sounds weird to native German speakers and "Geländegängigesvierradantriebfahrzeug" which is just a regular word but Americans didn't like it because they like stupid names for their 4x4s. Like Raunchero, or Barebacker or TailGrinder.
